  • "I recently got myself a decent camera, and then started watching every YouTube video I could find on my equipment and photography in general. After months of practicing what I watched online, I started to get frustrated in my lack of progress, and my pictures would rarely come out how I wanted them to. A friend highly recommended Ikigai's workshops, and I had some free time coming up, so I decided to sign up for one of their events and learn in the field directly from a professional. I couldn't be happier with my experience! We went to some amazing spots, and Courtney taught everyone specific to their skill level, explaining the basics in a way that was so much easier to understand than any of the videos I'd watched. I'm now able to visualize my shots beforehand, and know how to achieve exactly what I want with my equipment.   • "My son and I have been amateur photographers for years, and with summer coming up, we decided to plan a vacation to the mountains. Living in the Bay Area, we considered Yosemite, but the crowds that time of year pushed us to look elsewhere. A friend mentioned she had recently met a great mushroom tour guide who also hosted photography workshops in the Sierras. We looked Ikigai up, and it was exactly what we were looking for! Not only did we get to explore some incredible natural places in the mountains, but it was just our group with nobody else around. Other than some amazing shots, and a TON of new ideas, the biggest thing we learned was how much more a professional spends time scouting, thinking about, setting up, and visualizing the final shot than hobbyists and amateurs do. Courtney walked us through the entire thought process, and showed us in real time how and why one approach might be preferred over another due to the light or composition. We also realized how much of a difference good editing can make when applied properly, and how to do that. Highly Recommend!"
