Sierra Nevada Guided Fungi Tours
When the weather and temperature are perfect, elusive and delicious fungi emerge in the woods. Over the years, we’ve found Morels, Oysters, King and Queen Boletes, Lion’s Mane, Blewits, Shrimp Russulas, Chicken of the Woods, and all sorts of other delicious fungi on our tours. On this foray, you will be taken to places where tasty in season fungi grow, shown how to identify them correctly, and also learn the trees and habitats they prefer. People have spent years unsuccessfully looking for some of these mushrooms, and our goal is to help you skip the learning curve and focus entirely on foraging these highly sought after edibles!
But it’s about more than just finding mushrooms. It’s an invitation to rediscover nature, unearth its treasures, and foster a deeper connection with your surroundings. You’ll learn more about the forest ecosystem, its inhabitants, and the vital role fungi plays within it. Participants also really like the opportunity to meet and connect with other fungal enthusiasts that have a deep love and appreciation for the natural world too.
Come join us in the forest for an unforgettable experience!
Each tour has a maximum of 10 people. The length of each season is completely determined by weather, so make sure you book quickly to ensure these delicious little morsels are still here and spots are available! We’ve had a ton of interest and expect spots to fill up fast.
We also offer tours for corporate and private events! Contact us directly to discuss the specifics.
Details:
Tours start Sunday April 19th and will run rain or shine every following Saturday and Sunday as long as the season persists. You can book for either one or two days per weekend.
Each tour will be from 10 am to 3 pm (approximately 5 hours)
The specific meetup location will be emailed to all registered participants a few days prior to the event. We scout locations prior to each tour to ensure the highest chance of looking in the right spots. It will be somewhere near beautiful Twain Harte, CA, which is a short few hours drive from the Bay Area.
Since the surrounding area is absolutely breathtaking, we always recommend guests come up for the weekend and enjoy the area before and after the tours on their own. There is lodging, and paid and free dispersed camping in the area for people who want to stay the whole weekend. If you are joining for multiple days and are unsure where to stay or what to do, just contact us directly at ikigaiadventuretours@gmail.com, and we’d be more than happy to point you in the right direction. The fishing, hiking, sight seeing, and off-roading is this area are all world class.
Children up to the age of 6 can participate for free when accompanied by parents or guardians.
