When the weather and temperatures align just right, elusive and delicious mushrooms begin to emerge throughout the Sierra. Since offering these tours, we’ve discovered morels, oysters, king and queen boletes, lion’s mane, chantarelles, blewits, shrimp russulas, chicken of the woods, and many other prized edible and medicinal fungi.

On this foray, local experts will guide you to productive seasonal mushroom habitats, teach you how to properly identify edible species, and help you understand the trees and environments where they thrive. Many people spend years searching unsuccessfully for some of these mushrooms. Our goal is to help you skip the steep learning curve and focus on confidently foraging these highly sought-after edibles.

It’s about more than finding mushrooms—it’s an invitation to reconnect with nature, uncover hidden treasures, and deepen your connection to the world around you. Along the way, you’ll gain a greater understanding of the forest ecosystem, its inhabitants, and the essential role fungi play within it.

Come join us in the forest for a rare and unforgettable adventure!

Each tour is limited to just 10 people to keep the experience intimate and enjoyable. Because the season depends entirely on the weather, availability can change quickly—so we recommend booking early to secure your spot while these delicious little morsels are still in season. Interest has been high, and tours are expected to fill up fast.

We also offer tours for corporate and private events! Contact us directly to discuss the specifics.

Details:

  • Morel - Focused Spring Tours start Sunday April 19th and will run rain or shine every following Saturday and Sunday as long as the season persists. You can book for either one or two days per weekend.

  • Each tour will be from 10 am to 4 pm (approximately 6 hours)
